Study List Limits

The College and schools set a maximum number of units in which a student may enroll. Students must petition to enroll in excess units.

Undergraduate Students

Study list unit limits for the College and each school appear below. A petition is required to request excess units; submit petition at the appropriate College or school advising office.

Graduate Students

Effective fall 2023, the study list is limited to 22 enrolled units, except for an individual degree program that allows a different limit. Students should contact the department adviser if they encounter a study list unit limit and wish to request excess units. In all cases, students are cautioned not to enroll in a course they do not expect to actually attend.
