Effective winter 2021, the César E. Chávez Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies department name changes to César E. Chávez Department of Chicana and Chicano and Central American Studies. The change makes visible the department's established approach to research, teaching, and advocacy about Central American people and cultures.
Effective fall 2020, the College Life Sciences division offers a new minor in Brain and Behavioral Health. In partnership with the Semel Institute, the minor covers translational science; basic brain science; contextual conditions; and programs, policies, and their evaluation.
Effective fall 2020, Asian American Studies department offers a new minor in Pilipino Studies. Covering literary studies, global health, global migration, international labor, performance studies, American Studies, and California Studies.
Effective fall 2020, the Geography department offers an online Master of Applied Geospatial Information Systems and Technologies degree.
