  1. The Document Fee and N/C status for documents and services covered by it are effective September 23, 2013. Until that date, documents continue to cost $15 each per copy, first diploma U.S. addressee mailing continues to cost $10 and international addressee mailing $21, and removal of I grade continues to cost $5 per instance. The Document Fee is assessed one time to all incoming students and is valid for the life of their career in that student classification; see term fee charts.

  2. Applicants to Law, Medicine, and Dentistry, and to some programs in the Anderson Graduate School of Management may pay a higher application fee and/or supplemental application and processing fees.

Course Materials and Services Fees

The UCLA College of Letters and Science and professional schools assess course materials and services fees to cover the cost of equipment and to help offset the costs of providing course websites and computer laboratories. Depending on how the fees were approved, they are assessed with registration fees or after Friday of the fourth week of the quarter.

The Materials Use fee (sometimes known as a lab fee) and Instructional Enhancement Initiative (IEI) fee are course materials and services fees that are assessed by course unit as of Friday of the fourth week of the quarter. Students are responsible for ensuring that all Study List errors and omissions are corrected prior to the end of the second week. Students are assessed these fees regardless of major. Students who are approved for “late add” enrollment after the third week of classes are required to pay course material fees. The fees are billed once a quarter through BruinBill and are non-refundable once assessed.

Education Abroad Program reciprocity students and CAPPP (Washington internship) students are exempt from the IEI fee. For more information about the IEI fee, see the UCLA Online section of the Schedule or the IEI website. For a summary of fee amounts, see Course Materials and Services in the Miscellaneous Fees chart in the Fees section of the Schedule.
