UCLA Registrar's Office

New department schedulers or those who need a refresher course can set up a training appointment. Training covers policies, procedures, and use of OASIS screens.

Training is available to help new department schedulers learn the production cycle and how to use OASIS mainframe scheduling screens. The Registrar’s Office Scheduling unit holds monthly training sessions for new staff and current staff who need a refresher course.

Department staff work with faculty to plan which classes to offer for the coming year. The Schedule of Classes production deadlines calendar is a guide to when class scheduling takes place by term. Topics germane to planning classes include

  • Which courses to offer
  • When to offer them
  • Who will teach them (who is on sabbatical)
  • What funding is available
  • How many TAs are needed
  • Are enough major courses offered
  • Are the right requisites offered

After decisions are made, department schedulers enter class requests into OASIS mainframe screens with preferred time and expected enrollment capacity.
