Proof of enrollment

Notarized documents

Nonattendance verification

How does a third party, such as a creditor or employer, verify a student's enrollment or degree (obtain proof of enrollment)?

UCLA has authorized National Student Clearinghouse to act as its agent for all third-party verifications of student enrollment and degrees. Third parties can order enrollment and degree verifications through the Clearinghouse. Costs for third-party services vary and are set by the Clearinghouse.

Degree verification for the most recent term is available approximately eight weeks after the term ends.

How do I obtain official proof of enrollment?

A verification transcript is proof of enrollment. It confirms term attendance if registration fees have been paid for the term.

If you are a NEW student who requires proof of enrollment to receive a scholarship, submit a Special Verification Letter Request to order a letter confirming your admission to the University and enrollment in classes for the term of admission.

For payment options involving scholarship checks, see the Student Financial Services FAQ and search for category Student Financial Services, subcategory Scholarships.

How do I obtain verification for an auto insurance good-student discount?

Bring your insurance forms to 1113 Murphy Hall for official verification. See also Official Transcripts in the Registrar’s Office Services section.

How do I obtain notarization of documents issued by the UCLA Registrar’s Office?

Complete a Special Verification Letter Request to request notarization of your UCLA diploma, transcript, or verification. Mail the form and a copy of your document(s), plus recipient address for delivery once notarized, to Notary Request, UCLA Registrar's Office, Box 951429, Los Angeles CA 90095-1429. A special handling fee applies; see Miscellaneous Fees as published in the online Schedule of Classes. The UCLA Registrar’s Office notarizes only those documents issued by the UCLA Registrar’s Office.

For information on apostilles (authentication of public official signatures on documents to be used outside the U.S.) and applicable fees, see the California Secretary of State website authentications page.

How do I obtain verification that I never attended UCLA?

Submit a Special Verification Letter Request to order a letter confirming nonattendance. A special handling fee is assessed for this service; see Miscellaneous Fees as published in the online Schedule of Classes.

For academic or verification transcript order questions, see the Transcript FAQ. For complete transcript information, see Official Transcripts in the Registrar’s Office Services section of the online Schedule of Classes.
