  • New minor in History

    Effective winter 2017, the History department offers a minor in History. The minor introduces students to historical processes and institutions, and exposes them to the rich varieties of history in terms of geography, chronology, and methodology.

  • New minor in International Migration Studies

    Effective winter 2017, the Center for the Study of International Migration offers a freestanding minor in International Migration Studies. It uses a cross-discipline approach to examine economic, political, cultural, and individual impacts of migration.

  • New graduate program in Conservation of Material Culture

    Effective fall 2017, the Conservation of Archaeological and Ethnographic Materials IDP will offer master of science and doctorate degrees in Conservation of Material Culture. The cross-disciplinary program will focus on original and translational research, global exchange, strong leadership, and public engagement. It is designed to give students a strong understanding of the field.

  • New Master of Arts in Teaching Asian Languages

    Effective Fall 2017, the Asian Languages and Cultures department will offer a Master of Arts degree in Teaching Asian Languages. The new degree offers graduate study in Asian languages and linguistics (e.g., the sociocultural and linguistic foundation of Asian languages) and training in language teaching and research. The curriculum is designed to equip students with skills and knowledge to be highly competitive in the job market.

    The Registrar’s Office launches its new website on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 to coincide with the release of Fall Quarter 2016 class information. Key elements relating to the upcoming academic term, such as calendars and fees, are easier to find. The new site includes a Schedule of Classes section that offers expanded class search features and master course lists for General Education, Diversity, Writing II, and others.

    First of its kind in the UC system, the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music focuses on scholarship, performance, composition, and pedagogy, and a commitment to understanding music in all its contemporary and historical diversity. It comprises three existing departments: Ethnomusicology, Music, and Musicology.
